REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY |

I awoke to a dreary windy and wet day and I was not looking forward to a wet and windy wreath laying, but as the morning progressed the rain ceased but the wind continued to blow and I breathed a sigh of relief.
I arrived at my local War Memorial in Mill lane Upton-by-Chester in plenty of time and saw the small parade of Scouts guides and other organisations arrive. We all stood in silence at 11am and a local bugler played the last post after which the local dignitaries laid the wreaths of the various organisations, to those that had made the ultimate sacrifice.
It was with pride as I placed the wreath from the Mark Masons of West Lancashire with them. We had a short service at the memorial after we all departed in procession and retired to the Local British Legion club for light refreshments. Another moving and thought provoking day. |
